Session 9 — 2026-09-26

Second council: new Open Lord, a silver dragon reveals herself, and the party flies to a dragon summit.

Summary

Barnacas studied teleportation with Taern "Thunderspells" Hornblade and worked out the Teleportation Circle spell. Thunderspells offered to fund spell materials in exchange for copying Barnacas's spells. Bought 400 gp of incense and powdered diamond; exchanged 94 pp for gold.

Leosin Erlanthar: Lady Laeral Silverhand replaced Lord Neverember as Open Lord (chosen by the masked lords; reason unknown); she wants all parties kept at the table. Neverember stays on the council. Win her over.

Second Council of Waterdeep: Connerad Brawnanvil promised justice for Varram; Zeiria urged mercy too. Silverhand introduced "Elia" = Otaaryliakkarnos ("Elia"), a silver dragon whose people know where the Well of Dragons is; invited the party to a dragon summit (leader, gold dragon Protanther, is skeptical). Tension with dwarf and elf delegates. Winterhound asked Brawnanvil to guarantee Varram won't be returned to the dwarves; Brawnanvil stormed out; Zeiria soothed him (dwarves have bad history with dragons). Frume objected to secret dragon talks. Council agreed to send envoys to the Nether Mountains; Irregulars volunteered; Elia will carry them. Mission: convince the dragons the council is united against Tiamat.

Raids: King Melandrach says raids in the Misty Forest stopped for now; Isteval, Frume, Ravengard report continuing raids elsewhere. Neverember: they resemble the toll operation (Session 1). Winterhound privately: the King is hard-pressed; asked the party to visit survivors at Altand afterward.

After: Kiviak showed Elia Arma's scale; Elia named her council (Tazmikella copper, Nymurrh bronze, Ileuthra brass, Protanther gold head). Barnacas copied Greater Invisibility (8 h) into his spellbook; on departure he gave the scroll itself to Leosin to pass to Thunderspells; lectured party on dragon diplomacy.

Departure: Elia in silver dragon form with an 8-seat harness. Camped in the Lost Peaks (Zeiria grew up in these mountains). Flew on next morning; Elia escorted them in, staying in dragon form (Session 10; notes say human form, corrected by user).
